Alcazar Update?
Just walked in about twenty minutes ago, thanks for the concern.
Worst thing was that my wife locked me out at luchtime when she went out. I was at a neighbour's helping her build a kitchen unit, when I went home, door locked, so no phone, no keys, no money, had to walk home from hospital
Luckily, neighbour loaned me a fleece.
Anyway: They can't rule out a TIA but nor can they say for definite it WAS one, (so they don't know, LOL).
AND they've picked up a heart irregularity now, probably caused by high blood pressure over the years.
Some new pills, a change of some I already take, Ibuprofen banned, Aspirin banned, and no driving for 4 weeks

BUT, LOL, I'm supposed to get to my GP in a week's time to give MORE blood to check kidney actions. Could be a long walk, that one
And I have to record any more turns, heart arrhythmia, nausea, vision defects, weakness in either/any limbs, etc etc, and go back in 4 weeks, probably to be told they STILL don't know what it is/was.
The hardest part was listening to the consultant without laughing: he talked just like that meerkat on the adverts, and those things crack me up
But I had to concentrate like mad to take in what he was saying, and all I kept thinking was when he would pick up a stick and batter me, shouting "Meerkat! Meerkat! Meerkat!"

So, seriously then, ........pretty much "as you were".
Except for the non-driving, and he also says that if it WAS a TIA I'm now in a high-risk group for 4 weeks, some 5 times MORE likely to have a full-blown stroke.
Make no mistake here lads, growing old DOES suck

Aspirin Banned?
I'd have thought they would encourage you to take that as it thins the blood.
Ironically my mother in law has just had a serious stroke and they're giving her it.
Here's hoping you have a full recovery. If you need anything I work in Scunny so feel free to shout.

Yes, another blood thinner, so I mustn't take both that AND aspirin. I think it's called Rampiril, but I also have Clopidogrel, which seems to be for the same thing?
Plus a decent antacid.
However..........the above seem to have ED as normal, so I may have to see my doc for some Viagra before long.
Or not...........if I don't want my BP going haywire.
Decisions, decisions.............do I want to bonk, or live longer............
Maybe THAT'S what they mean by "Going out with a bang"????? LOL

You might want to think about getting a BP/heart rate monitor, cheap enough http://www.amazon.co.uk/Omron-Basic-...p_ob_title_hpc i was recommend this by my cardiologist, he said it is the best value for the money and compares very well with the more very expensive stuff.

Is that different from a BP gauge? I have one of those, had to use it while they got my BP down before, and settled on the right dose of Olmetec.
Just looked: same as the one I have from Lloyds pharmacy.
My BP would seem NOT to be the problem. When I measure it, it's always smack in the middle of the acceptable range.
Forgot to say: thanks for the offer Daz.

Looks like they are being very thorough and checking everything.
Good excuse to take it easy for the next few weeks, so do that.
Don't even think about any DIY until you have a clean bill of health. Do what you are told

Who started you on the Clopidogrel?
How old are you?
I still don't think you have had a tia ( as I mentioned in the other thread) but if the consultant who saw you thinks you might have then you should an ultrasound of your carotid arteries.

A visit to a good optician may put your mind at ease they will be able to tell from looking at the back of your eye if it was a stroke or not.
My visits to the TIA clinic consisted of blood tests, lifting, gripping and balance tests, all of which were inconclusive, while an eccentric consultant talked into his Dictaphone.

Well least you're still in one piece mate. Just got back from the hospital myself, was admitted at 6pm midway through my 2-10 shift.
Get in touch if you need a lift...
I know a good taxi firm

I had an ecg, which picked up a slight heart problem, a CAT scan, which showed nothing untoward, and ditto an untrasound on the carotid arteries, plus MORE blood tests, having given some on Thursday..

Just to dig this old thread out and update all those who took an interest in my "funny turn".
I went to see the consultant and he reckons I DIDN'T have a TIA, or any form of stroke.
That's the good news. The bad news is that they STILL don't know what happened and I've had two milder versions since
More bad news is that they turned up a mild heart defect, "that will bear watching".
But the good news is that the consulatant noticed I wasn't moving well, and when I told him I'd had sciatica for EIGHT MONTHS and just pain-killers or physio, he has referred me for an MRI with a view to surgical intervention.
So.........that's where I am at present.
Thanks for your kind wishes.
