Scum + coward in equal measure. Policeman should face death penalty surely.

I cant decide the motivation behind it.
If intentional he must have had an episode as anyone in their right mind knows thats murder.
If its accidental, which it kind of looks from the shock, he is still very guilty of something very serious.

No, more recent, cop shoots unarmed man who was sat on the floor and then pushed down to be handcuffed - he draws his side-arm and fires into him at point blank range standing over him - not nice viewing, not obvious reason to do it, the bloke seems reasonably compliant and non-threatening, there where other officers there and it wasn't out of hand as such the cops looked well in control of the situation the officer who fired looks like he just lost it. without using emotive words - he executed him!

The firing officer looks very shocked at the discharge though, intentional or not it should never have happened

Its not graphic in content as such, you just know what the outcome so makes it sad.
The most shocking thing is the action and reaction from the officer making the shot.

Looks accidental but he should never have needed to draw his firearm in that situation.

You do not 'accidentally' draw you weapon aim and fire.

This isn't exactly recent - it happened on New Years Day in 2009. The cop got two years for involuntary manslaughter, presumably because the jury believed his story that he thought he had pulled out his taser.

The cop should have had the book thrown at him for deliberate homicide.

He drew his side-arm, he took aim and he discharged it causing the death of this man. how can that be anything but deliberate. premeditated,...no.

he may be suffering from stress or mental illness or just had a bad day. he is trained in how to use firearms and will have qualified by passing a series of stringent tests under all sorts of conditions designed to put him under pressure and simulate real life situations. He will also have been psychosocially evaluated on an ongoing basis.

Ultimately he made some bad decisions resulting in death.

I appreciate you've seen an entire news article, but the court says it was involuntary manslaughter. Case closed.

ND.

Now, the case of the CIA officer is much worse. Pulled for speeding. Asked to get out of the car, he refuses. Cops ask if he is armed, he identifies himself and tells them who he is. Cops tell him to wait while a supervisor comes, he decides he does not like the sounds of that, he is already compromised, he decides to run for it, they chase him. During the chase he made contact with the agency and the FBI contacted the police to inform them he was genuine and the were ordered to stop chasing him. The radio operator was never told... After quite some time he decides its a good idea to stop (probably had destroyed whatever he was working on) cop runs up to car and starts smashin pax window. Driver opens his door and pauses, as officers run round he goes to get out, you can see his hands are empty, BANG cop shoots him point blank with no warning. He was then cuffed and left to bleed out for about 15 mind before an ambulance arrived..

All very sus. There have been lots of coverups and the bottom line is this guy was shot after the FBI told the police he was real.. the cops could not find any guns in the car. It was only when the cia turned up they found them....

His wife said he had been away for 3 months with work and she thought he was overseas.

All the police officers were cleared.

If you pull out a gun and fire it at the bloke, would you call it involuntary?

Don't you think thats a pretty dangerous act?

Les the argument is he intended to reach for his taser. And mistakenly grabbed the gun.

The court belived this, so thats why it is involuntary.

That was what I first honestly thought might have happened. All different cops carru their firearms in the way they choose. The way he drew and discharged, it looked like he was going to taser.

Yes understood. Wonder how different a handgun feels from a Taser though.

I'd expect at least a significant weight difference, surely his training would cover that possibility anyway.

From handling both (standard issue 9mm and a taser) I would say a large difference... but in the heat of the moment, and in panic... A jury would probably believe there was no difference felt.
A terrible mistake, or cop gone wild. I cant believe for one second that anyone in their right mind would draw a handgun in such a way with the intention of killing someone with so many people around.

With SO many options of carrying weapons available now, even a recent change in habit could allow for such a fatal mistake
