Default Admin fees. Booking fees. Postage and packaging. Handling fees, What else?

Literally fed up with all these ridiculous charges.

I've received my Creamfields ticket through the post. It cost about £140. £11.50 Booking fee. £4.95 delivery. Its a ticket, delivered first class. £4.95? an envelope bought in bulk, 0.05p probably. Bought on its own, 30p maybe? First class stamp? How much are they these days? 40p? What was the booking fee for? it costs about 10p-50p to do a credit card transaction (only a visa, so no silly money Amex)

When you buy clothes/DVD's/whatever else you buy online you don't get charged buying fees or anything?

I phone up a consumer finance company whom i have a loan with (very small amount, will be paid within a year) and i tell them i have changed jobs and my pay date has changed and so will pay them on XXX date. This date just happens to be after the regular payment date so they stick on an Admin fee for the late payment. £30! why are they charging me £30 ?

Tell the same thing to sky, that my payment date will be changing, paid that month off with cash i had to save the risk of getting cut off (sky love to cut people off) and they charge me £3 to pay with card? again it costs 50p max. Why do they charge me more than their cost of me doing such a thing?

Surely it can't be legal for people making money out of things like this? Fraudsters the lot of 'em!

If everyone sold everything at cost, nobody would make any money!

The best (?) I've had recently was a mortgage company who wanted me to use their own tame insurance company for home insurance. Their quote was about twice what I had been paying but they charged me an "admin" fee of £30 not to use their own company

Who's going to mention Ryanair

Me,me can i do it,

Its the new way to pull you in with a price that seems like it's the best at the begining of the process, then by the time you get to the end of the payment process you have been bum raped.

Just like RYAN AIR

Absolutely and nothing ever gets done about these sharp practices. Lots of talk, but never any real action.

The ticket one amuses me. Tickets £50 ... booking fee £11... what else can I do other than book them?

Let's see. I bought a pair of plane tickets to Boston this year.

They cost £242 for both.

In the end the bill came to £922.80

That's 4 times the bill!!!!

Not to mention import tax!

admin fee's / booking fee's really amaze me, they charge you for somebody typing your info into a pooter and then printing it off and filing it in a file in a filing cabinet in a filing cabinet room. It's their own staff who are doing it but they charge you because they have to pay the staff even though they are getting £xxxx from you for using their service !!!!!

If you think that's bad I bought some concert tickets recently and had the choice of paying £5 to have actual tickets sent through the post or I could pay £2.50 to print my own!
Why it costs £2.50 to use my own ink and paper I have no idea, robbing gits.

Whilst I agree these charges can be away ott don't forget the company who takes your booking has to process your order, pay someone to handle the card payments, manage the sales and report to their customer and print and process actual tickets. No doubt they have to insure all that too. As a general rule, a "service" in the uk costs about half of what the end customers pay. So your 11 quid is about 9 quid after vat. So prob costs them 4.50.
