It seems unfair, but do we know for sure that prisoners for this type of offence aren't released after similar terms? I don't think they could be seen to be giving an MP favourable treatment.
Either way, four months inside must still be pretty grim and it will have wrecked his life forever.

He was a member of the MP's "gardening club" of course so he is bound to get the maximum reduction possible, even if he was stealing all that money from the taxpayers!
