Default Oh Dear!...... Not the Harriers

It gets better...

US to buy Harrier fleet for £34m

It seems we are flogging our entire fleet of Harrier Jump Jets which cost us £1billion for £34m to the US..... Yes, £34m!!

It seems the governments comment was exactly the same as the Thames contract statement.... They will be disposed of in a way which is best for the UK tax payer.

I wonder if the EU are controlling this too

Its a step forward from selling them to the likes of Libya and Iraq, as we have done with weapons in the past I suppose.

£34m....like WTF!!! They are the BEST carrier based aircraft we have ever had, not to mention close in support. We should keep them for missions in Afghanistan, and have them ready for the new carriers, when it turns out their catapults don't work..

£34m.....fecking idiots.

Only 40 are airworthy but they are likely to be broken for parts.

The US AV8B Harrier fleet is being kept in service until the VTOL Joint Strike Fighter comes on line, but it's late !

So the US will crack on with one of the only British designed aircraft the yanks have ever bought .

I guess the UK harriers would only be used for parts, and only after a number of systems have been removed. The RAF fleet have a load of engines that are virtually brand new!

They are looking ahead to the future...I mean their personal futures of course! This country is of no further interest to any of them.
