Default Bahrain.

1000 Saudi troops enter Bahrain via the Causeway.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...-escalate.html

All to do with Shia protests threatening the existing Sunni order in the Gulf states.

I got my eye on this because I was supposed to be going to work in Saudi via Bahrain soon!

The House of Saud could tip over so easily most people have no idea.

I thought you would be applying for a job on a North Sea Rig, after your recent near death experiences in Libya Tone?

Not surprised the Saudis are propping up their mates in Bahrain though. Those pesky Shias hey? They were always trouble!

I spent a few months working in Bahrain a few years ago, was never aware of the social issues.

I like(d) Bahrain, much smaller than say Dubai and relaxed/easy going (or at least was!).

I (think i) understand the religious differences between Sunni and Shia Muslims but still fail to understand how so-called brothers and sisters can so readily kill each other over these differences.

this is my understanding: http://islam.about.com/cs/divisions/f/shia_sunni.htm

It would appear to be in direct conflict with their religious teachings.

It's politics not religion really.

Sectarian conflicts are often one and the same, aren't they; intrinsically linked rather than one or the other?

Now this is what seems in direct conflict, as i understand it is religion first and foremost and this is taught from day 1

I used to like staging through there, seemed to be nice people.

All these upsets are a bit of a worry I reckon.
