But they NEVER hardly are

And in a few years, we will be hearing about more "lessons being learnt".

The country's Fooked. These so called "Parents" should be sterilized before they are allowed to procreate.

Aye, it's about the only thing you CAN do in this country without permission, a license, or both, yet probably THE most important

It would solve a huge amount of the problems in this country - shame it would produce dumped babies in land fill sites. Can't win either way.

I can't quite understand though how a 3 year old child can become addicted to alcohol - I mean how? Whiskey in the the milk bottle to keep them sedated I assume?

My old man will tell old tales of catching me drinking all the drip trays when we used to live in a pub. Apparently drank alot of sherry one year.

Its OK, though, rehab sorted me out.

Mustn't do anything against the parents' human rights of course. Far more important than that child's future!

What on earth has happened to common sense and even responsibilty?

Our daughter had an allergic reaction to cashew nuts, we called for an ambulance and whilst chatting to the crew they said that out of the 6-7 calls to children they had taken that shift ours was the only one that wasn't alcohol related!

Its the same when you get to hospital, when my son was 12 he broke his arm after falling of his crosser i drove to casualty and he had to wait 3 hours to be seen as they were dealing with the pi55 heads. They said he couldnt jump the que at it would cause trouble. That was adults that had been fighting during the last but one world cup.

A while back it was proposed to put some cctv cameras in the houses of junkies with kids but that was also deemed to be against the human rights of the junkie parents - the law is a complete *** sometimes and yes, we need to go back to common sense and not be dictated to by europr@ts who meddle and make things worse for normal decent people and do not protect children and the vulnerable.

I think that parents should be made officially responsible for their children, both their safety and also any damage that they might do up to the age of majority.

PMSL....mental....licenced child birth....its impossible to police, would cost a fortune in "birth control" on the NHS, and cleaning all those baby's bodies that had been dumped due to not having a licence could be slightly costly too....

but hey ho, lets send the entire family "idea" underground to the black market....rather than people getting shot by a drug dealer, they can all get shot bargining for a dodgy "child licence"....genius wish i had thought of that!!....

Why not try clamping down on **** parents, banging tham up in prison, lots of PR around our "efforts" to clamp down....send the ***** up the scum, like we do with drugs, gangs etc..(not always a success of course)

Licenced child birth=

Better place to start would be to not reward parents who have lots of kids with additional benefits for the more kids they have and in some cases larger council houses. To stop parents having kids who cannot support them financially or with a loving & nurturing home life. having kids is a responsibility and not just a right.

figure of speech!

I know it's a human right to have a child but if you cannot look after your self how the hell can you be expected to be a proper parent. We have a welfare system in place that encourages folks without jobs to have more kids thus creating more and more unhappy neglected children.

Need a house or a flat?? just have a kid!

Want a bigger house?? simple just have more kids!

I need a licence to drive that proves I can drive a car and not put others at risk, but any one can pop kids out when social services are fully aware that the child will be born into poverty and squaller!

It is madness though that we live in a country where working families are put off having children due to cost involved where as the unemployed are encouraged by the system to have as many as they want and we the tax payer will foot the bill!

I don't see what can be done other than capping payments to just 2 kids.
