Soft-top T0ssers
#1
Driving into work this morning, must have been 7:30am.
I had to de-ice my car it was that cold.
And what did I see sat in traffic on the A580?
A 25 year old t0sser in an MGF with his roof down. He had a coat on and must have had his heaters on full!
Why o why do these **** feel fit to rip the roof down at any oppertunity?

How bizarre!
I get annoyed when I see a MG, MX5 etc with the roof up on a sunny day. "Get that ****** ****** roof down" I say, "Why the hell did you buy a convertible" etc etc.
Makes me laugh

As an ex owner of an Austin Healey Sprite i used to drive mine with the roof down most of the time unless raining hard. It is a great feeling blatting about with the roof down, wind in ya hair, i felt more in-touch with my surroundings and more able to hear the deep exhaust note - feckin' fantastic!
Most soft top ownrers buy the cars to drive about with the roof down - unless a Saab or BM, then it is for show
IMHO
Quite frankly life is too short to get wound up by this
Old f@rts who drive badly is another matter - now that gets me going!

I had my roof down MORE in the winter than the summer when I had my MGF.
Believe me, jacket on, gloves on, wooly hat on, middle of winter, there is a thrill in it!!!
It is also nice and warm once heater on.
Kind of like a bike feeling, but much more cosy & warm....
Best compromise IMHO.
Don't knock it till you have tried it.......
Don't know why its got your goat..........

Rik, have you owned a convertible before?
As paul said, it really makes driving a different experience, IMO.
I bought the old girl an Eunos Roadster 2 years ago and despite the fact that is wasn't all that quick and very cramped for someone my size, driving (as in not being a passenger) with the top down was great fun. Don't knock it till you've tried it. If you have tried it, then that's life
Cheers,
Nick
P.S. What's with the attitude?

Hangover Cure - ha ha ha!
Had a Dutton as a student, used to take my mates home from pubs in winter, sitting feet on the back shelf (no seat), **** on the bodywork, hands on rollbar. It could be -3C, then with 35mph wind chill. They'd complain that they'd gone to a pub, spent all their savings to get rat-arsed, then by the time they arrived home they were sober again - what was the point?
Roof is there for when it's raining and No Other Time.

Well, I only have/had an Escort Cabriolet of 1987 vintage - the fun it gave me for £1200 was greeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttt!!
Ok, it may be considered a hairdressers car - but I would get my top off whenever I could, its only cold in the back!! heater on and its California .... I would highly recommend it!!
I was never called a hairdresser to my face, maybe a 19stone gorilla going to the gym saw to that??
Pete
