Like a coffee table with a glass top, but there's an arcade video game under the glass and controls on each side? Haven't seen one of those since the days of original Space Invaders, but sounds like a very cool lounge accessory.
This is what you want.
Originals aren't cheap though

look on ebay, there are a few different ones, I have an upright with 60 different games on it, you can get pc style MAME ones that have loads of games on them , or of course originals with the one game on.
I used to have a space invaders table machine. It was from my old man's pub.
I took the legs off to make it low enough to use as a coffee table. It took old 10 pence but they should have a little button inside to add credit.
If I was getting one now I'd go for MAME but haven't seen a table machine.

I have the multikade table (bought from Directgamesroom - although their customer service is shocking!) with about 50 games (or I will when it comes back from being repaired).
Cheers

Arcade machines 101
If its advertised as a Jamma machine, or with Jamma boards, chances are its an original,
JAMMA= Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association.
It will have one set of Jamma bords, which will relate to one type of game
If its advertised as MAME,
MAME = Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator
Its more than likley a PC running software emulation & romsets.
It will have no curcuit boards other than a 4 or 586 pc and its associated components.
In terms of visuals, a Jamma unit will be the pukka item, with the correct aspect ratio, sounds etc.
A mame uniton the other hand will, and in most cases give a perfect reproduction of the games loaded, it may suffer from a few artifacts due to rom requirements.
It will certainly have no stand alone attract screen / mode until the game / rom in question is emulated.
From a collectors point of view, if you want authentic original, it has to be Jamma, for your average person mame will suffice
hope i'm not teaching you to suck eggs

We used to have a slot machine (fruit machine) and at first it was very cool, but the shine quickly wore off and it became a white elephant.
Get an iPad, glue it to the coffee table of your choice. Job done :-)
