SHAMED soccer star Jonathan Woodgate has had his jaw broken by a thug who beat him up in a savage street attack.

The Leeds United defender — convicted over a chase in which an Asian student was brutally battered — was taken to hospital after the ambush.

He had a serious operation yesterday to reset and repair the shattered jaw. And the injury means he will not be able to play again this season.

IMO - Yes. What goes around comes around

People who get involved in brawls outside pubs can't expect not to get injured. I understand that he isn't pressing charges?

Angry

  • Three years ago he was held by cops after claims he was involved in an assault on a student. But no charges were brought.
  • As a 14-year-old he was cautioned for headbutting a teenager.
  • A fortnight ago he was banned from driving for six months for doing 97mph on the A1 near Thirsk, North Yorks, in his Jeep Cherokee.
  • JPs heard it was his fourth speeding offence in four years. The ban was suspended pending an appeal.
  • Woodgate was due in court AGAIN yesterday to answer a charge of doing 91mph on the A1.

But his surgery stopped him appearing in North Allerton. He admitted speeding in his absence and was banned for six months and fined £600.

The speeding offences I mentioned were to highlight a point about his previous criminal activites and the fact that he did not report the incident to the police.

Gordo - If you get caught 6 times in 4 years and don't slow down I think that backs up the *** theory

Sounds like a case of 'what goes around comes around...' to me

I think that sometimes some highly paid professional footballers forget that they are athletes too and how many top athletes do you see getting into pub brawls after drinking too much alcohol or snorting too much charlie?

If you act like a complete tosser then you get all you deserve IMHO

Ooooyyyy ScottScooby..... we'll have less of the Leeds Scum thankyou very much.

For what it's worth, I'm a Leeds fan and I think he's being a *** as well. Why can't he just go home, and keep his head down? Instead of going out boozing and then getting a kicking?

He is by all accounts a bit of a thick ****...so perhaps the brain cell he had has been shaken loose...

Well just my 2 penneth,

I live in leeds and support leeds. Dont know what has happended (apart from soneone chinning him). Sounds very ominous though if he does'nt get the police involved.
So does this mean
a) he knows the people who did him (one of the friends of the guy who got sent down?)
b) He got involed in racist attack and someone did him cos of that?

But y not prosecute (?)

He should keep his head down and play footy, and try and not get in anymore trouble i agree .

On the england front (bravo2zero) its amazing how everyone wants retributions on him, when other footballers have had issues and still played for their national teams (tony (lets have a pint and drive)adams) and (paul (put stuff up my nose) merson) !

Come on leeds !!

Cheers

Dan - The decision not to get the police involved implies that he started the fight and the other guy thumped him, with enough independant witnesses to tell how it really happened. If he knew the people or it was a revenge attack it would still make sense to report it

Bravo,

I am not proud of him or bowyer over what has happended (how could i b )!

So being remorsefull over what u do makes it all right and ensures u can go into the england squad does it ? Just put your self in woodgates shoes and think how he feels. I dont think u could go for a beer and then have a night like this end up the way it did and not be completely freaked about it. What can he say? (apart from sorry, which i am sure has been said).

If woodgate had been the one to jump on the geezers head then fine, send him down for a longtime. They did'nt have the evidence to say that so he did'nt go down. Community service seems a laff (to put it politely, as per the seriousness of the whole event).
He is an idiot for being in that situation, and it seems now for being around boro he has been attacked for it.

And on the bowyer front. He was found not guilty. He is a class player and he is another idiot who got pissed up and should have not been in the situation that ensued. It interesting though that someone who is remorsefull and goes to prison plays in your sqaud and u slate bowyer who was found not guilty .

Do u think that anyone would have ever wanted any of this to happen?

Cheers

Dan

I really don't believe some of this. I am sure that his advisers told him not to press charges. He has spent the last 3 years in and out of court. The last thing he needs now would be another court case, even if he was the victim. Everything I have read suggests he was the victim this time, just a case of somebody having a go at a reputation. Yes, he is a thug, but even thugs have a right not to be attacked, particularly if they have done their time.

As for Bowyer, he was found INNOCENT. With Beckham probably out of the world cup, England need him. I personally think he is a prat and a thug, but he is also a great footballer and this could be the making of him. Remember what everybody thought of Beckham after the alst world cup?

Most people don't deserve to be gobbed outside a pub but, like everything, there is always the exception to the rule!
Go on son hit him again!!
Bet Safraz is having a little smile.

Turns out today in the paper that it was actually one of Woodgates "mates" that broke his jaw

Bloke says to woodgate "You think you're really hard don't you ?"
Bloke comes back 10 mins later to break his glass
Bloke meets Woodgate outside and shatters his jaw

If thats the case then I'd love to be one of his mates
