Well done fella.
Take your time, no matter what the 2wat on the other end of the phone tells you.
Most important phrase to learn is: Fukk 'em! Say it to yourself 13 to 15 times a day.

Now you gotta worry about who's in the backski, £2000 fine for everyone of the stinking baskets!!
If i was to go back to it, i'd have to go back to tramping, it's the only way to earn a decent wage atm, day work ain't worth the hassle unless your specialized, ie tanker, heavy haul etc.
Use to get some interesting work on the agency when first started but i doubt that's the same now though.
Congrats, here is a useful tip. Buy your work clothes at least 2 sizes too big, you will soon fit into them after a few trips to the road side cafes.
When i passed my class 1 about 12 years ago you couldn`t get any class 1 work up north with the agencies and virtually all companies, it was because of that stupid 2 year experience what the insurance companies stipulate.
I went down to live in London for almost 2 years where i didn`t have a problem getting any work, i could have as much work as i wanted. So if your in the south you shouldn`t have a problem getting work with no experience, in the north it could be a bit trickier. You should be able to get work in the north bit it will be harder to find and it will probably be with the smaller companies and none blue chip.

OMG thats my double
Thanks for the messages folks
I have been quite lucky I managed to get class2 work straight away, not agency work either, a friend of mine is a driver and told me to ask his boss as they are quite matey, so i started straight away
I told him I now had Class 1 and he said hed get me in them when I had a bit more experience
I had a Class 2 aborted after half an hour due to the exhaust brake being on and neither of us knew what it was
I then passed Class 2 with 4 minors, I failed a Class 1 test with 9 minors and a major ( passing parked cars with oncoming traffic, he said it was too tight ) then had one cancelled due to the snow then finally passed with the same examiner with 2 minors ( both gear selection )

When you passed your class one did you have a marker on the side of your trailor to let you know when you were the correct distance away from the back of the garage ?
The company that i used the owner put a marker on the trailor which you lined up with the solid white line at the back of the garage, when the marker was perfectly in line with white line you knew that you were perfectly placed. Too short or too far away from the back and they fail you on the reversing exercise.
If anyone is familiar with Simonswood test centre near Kirkby which is just outside Liverpool, they have the examiners portakabin just behind the reversing garage. Students and examiners waiting to go out on test will watch watch from the windows while your doing your reversing, its so students know what to expect and gets them prepared.
From what my HGV instructor told me its common occurance that some students who are on test doing the reversing exercise they have reversed straight into the examiners portakabin
...... To be honest its always on the cards as the portakabin is right behind the white line at the back that marks out the garage. Not sure if its been changed now or not but thats how it used to be at Simonswood.

Passed my class 1 + 2 within a month of each other. Best thing I've ever done!!
I've been driving for 1 year now and my waist has gone from 32" to 36"
No employer was interested due to the experience thing, done a bit of agency work on both 1+2 to start then fell in lucky with a local recycling company.
I'm driving a roll on/off hook loader now, but itching to get back in an artic!!

From a post i made above
Its very hard to avoid when your eating on the go, luckily ive always done plenty of exercise where i move my legs up and down onto the dash at least 3 or 4 times a day. It stops you getting lazy and overweight.
