Brundle in, Legard out...
Just read that Martin bundle is to be 'main' commentator for the F1 next year. Legard's contract has not been renewed for next year, so It's brundle and coulthard all the way in the commentary box, with brundle keeping the pitlane walks for himself.
Personally, I think this is a good thing, legard always annoyed me, never struck me as someone who liked formula 1, he was just a 'commentator', brought in to do a job.
With coulthard and brundle on the case, perhaps we'll have some excitement when something happens on track.

Legard ever drive in F1, or was he just a commentator? Guessing the latter. Having MB and DC will be rather good. DC has driven fairly recently and MB not so much so, however they have at least participated, at a pretty decent level in F1, and so their insights are valid.

Never warmed to Legard - have to say I didn't really mind James Allen although there was alot of people who didn't like him.
Not sure about MB as main commentator, will probably be OK.

Allen was just irritating, Not sure MB will be a good main man and DC is better in the Pit Lane they need to find some new talent
I see it now X-Factor type auditions for the job

While this is all very interesting do we have a link to any official news?
Although I do think Legard's future is in doubt I don't think it's been announced yet and I still doubt that DC will be in the box with Brundle no mater what happens with Legard..

Agree with F1_fan, i haven't seen anything official. Personally I think Brundle and Coulthard would be a disaster.
One professional commentator with an expert backing him up has to be the way forwards. David croft or Ben Edwards work for me.

This is the BBC's F1 team page and Legard is described as the commentator and Brundle as the expert analyst.

In practice I know Brundle has quite a bit of input, but Legard is the man doing the 'commentating' with Brundle providing insight into particular happenings. The problem is for the two years Legard has been there he has been so poor in his knowledge that Brundle has had to contribute more.

Nope, sorry but that is incorrect.

One thing i have noticed on the bbc f1 page is that there are no tweets form legard for a while now and there was usually a couple per week.
