classic Subaru Si

Anyone ever done it?? Me and a couple of friends are thinking about giving it a go, one of them being a mechanic (which is handy). Looks like a very cheap motorsport to get in to, just wondering if anyone can shed a bit of light on it, costs etc, and also point us in the right direction? Based in the north west
