Where abouts in London are you, a friend does AC, might be able to take a look.
Do you get the click when the compressor engages, or just nothing at all? If the system has dye in it, you might be able to see the leak.

Quickfitt`s test is only a simple vaccum check iirc

I think they check for pressure loss, if it passes the test then the machine refills the system, if you have a slow leak i doubt the machine could detect it.

My mate is a manager and he did my car about 6 months ago, and its hardly working any more

Drop me a PM with some contact details if you want mate. He runs a shop in Southend but lives in South London, so is always passing through.

Or you can contact Noel at Tel: 01702 808579

Yeah all these Garages make me laugh when they advertise "re-charge you're Air-con" for £X amount. If it needs re-charged its because theres a bloody leak, yet so few of them bother to even look for it. Condensers and Accumulators were always the most common location for leaks, especially on Fords.

Have the your system injected with UV leak detect dye, this will instantly show up any leaks

Could be the pump if the clutch is not working, happened to my BMW Mini. You should be able to hear the click as the cltuch engages when you switch the air con on, or even see if it is turning with the engine.

Heck of a waste of cash if it is down to a leak!
