Nope, not a wind up! Toyota are doing a promotional thing whereby you can get to take an MR2 or Celica 190 (or both) out on track for a few laps. There's also 4x4 off-roading (in a Land Cruiser Amazon or RAV4), a slalom test to try out Toyota's stability control (Avensis) and a chance to test drive any of their range on the road.

I did it last year and it was a top (half) day out - you get fed as well if you're in the morning. Very well organised and good fun - particularly taking the MR2 and Celica 190 around Brands . They do the event at several tracks around the UK.

http://www.toyota.co.uk/ontrack/default.htm

Costs absolutely nothing to register and they'll get back to you if you're successful. Last time about 4 of us signed up early, and we all got in.

All being well, I'll be doing it at Silverstone this year!

Cheers
Richard

Did this last year with Toyota and the amount they must have been spending on it was astounding.

A fleet of 20 MR2's and Celicas for the track, 5 Avensii for the skidpan, about a dozen 4x4's for the off-roading and around 50-60 assorted cars from the whole range for taking out on nearby roads.

All this lot did two days each at four circuits around the country ... just to make you think about buying Toyota next time.

In contrast, Nissan gave me a free pen when I bought a new car
