What is the situation with resale values of imported (from within EU) cars ?
Me and the Enemy are getting a car thru Litchfields (a Toyota) and i was curious to know if, when we might sell in in, say, 2 years time, it would be worth less than a UK sourced car. The car we are getting is full UK spec anyway.
Anyone ?

You'll be told by the naysayers that it will be worth less, and if you trade in at a Toyota garage, they'll give you less - then proceed to put it on their forecourt at the same price as a UK sourced one.
There should be no difference in resale, as it's the same car but in reality people are prejudiced against imports because there's a lot of crap spouted by UK garages.
My MY00 is a parallel import (UK spec from holland). I expect to get less than an equivalent UK-sourced car, but not by much - especially as it'll be at least 3 years old by the time I sell, which means it's out of warranty anyhow...
Nick.

It sounds like a case of the bl00dy media scaremongering again. Our Yaris is built on the same production line as the UK ones, and only has done a few more miles to Denmark and back, and yet we are going to be told its inferior to a UK car when it is a UK car.
Cant wait till we do sell it, i will be well fired up for it !!!

Exported cars have better quality control than cars made for the domestic market. Just as an example the new Honda CTR made in Swindon has lots of minor faults... squeaks & etc. See Honda forum where some of the owners have been moaning about the finishing quality.
