Default Ipod touch Q

Looking to get one of these as my old ipod is fubarred, and now finding that

options for intigration into the car etc,are becoming rather limited...

Quick Q though... i understand that you can play games and use apps on the touch...

I tried to look on the app store, but lost the will to live in about 5 mins...

where is the index? ffs

Does anyone know if there is a directory or list of what apps are available?

other than 2 pages of ""popular apps"" i couldnt find anything else..

where are the so called thousands of apps that are available

You've been "mad-looking" again, haven't you Mart?

Only kidding

You'll see all around the App Store little "see all" icons.
Apple (in their infinite wisdom) have broken the App Store into relevant sections - you just need to click on the "see all" per area.

AFAIK, you can't actually see the whole lot - it would be an overwhelming list, and as it IS a store, they want you to look at everything - you never know what might take your fancy <cynical marketing head ON>

Apart fromt he 'see all' option above, you can also see an application you like, and then look at the related applications and so on.

A strange thing to say, but there are far too many applications to be able to look at them all (I think there is 100,000+ at the moment).

Hmm, seems i may have to embrace itunes to get anywhere..

I only want it for the apps, and the fact that most cars now offer ipod control as a standard option, and generic mp3 players get nothing...

(does this mean i'm heading for an iphone )

Buy an iPhone! The main advantage of it is that you have everything you get with the Touch but with a permanent internet connection.

Steve's spot on, no point buying a touch if you have a mobile data plan. I have a 3G for sale, officially unlocked, none of that hackery pokery, yours for £500.

Then wait 12 months before you can use a different sim. 12 months is a long time, people pay for time.

Got a gen2 ,i pod touch.Make sure you get one of these or a 3rd gen,as it has some good upgrades over a series one-including the built in speaker and bluetooth. And get a minimum of 16gb unit.
I do agree that dependent on your circs, the i phone would be a better option, but like you,i have too much time left on my phone contract.
Some of the apps/games are only useable whilst on line, but there are a massive amount of fantastic apps-a lot of which are free and the app store is very addictive!
All in all,a great bit of hardware.Oh,and make sure that your i-pod car cable is compatible.A lot arent with the newer gen i-pods-ie they will not give full i pod control.
If you have any questions before you buy,pm me
