The irish people knew that a YES vote was the right vote the first to round, but a lot of silly peple used there vote to p1ss off the government because they beleived that the GLOBAL economic down turn was our governments fault!
This time round, more people actually voted on the issue at hand! hence the YES vote!
This kind of thing is to important for "normal" people who are all to easily led by bu11 **** posters to decide,
The British had it right, the house of commons (who were elected by the people to run their counrty) did there job and made this important decission on behalf of their people!
There was a lot od rubbish being spouted by libertas and the mini ira wantabe's Coir, like Lisbon = min wage of €1.82, and Dont trust Europe with your childrens future,
So I would not be surprised if they all started giving out that it was fixed!
Apoligies to anyone who isn't interested in all this!

The video wasn't about whether there were more YESes than NOs, but whether it was possible that the vote itself was tampered with.

I wonder if you will feel the same when the Eu based police force comes round to make sure you are doing exactly what they tell you to do!

No, members of the British parliament did not do their job!

Their job, once elected by us is to handle those "days to day" things to run the country like whether VAT should be increased or whether pubs should open all day on a Sunday.

Build into this system are checks and balances, so that the members of parliament, ministers and the government abide by certain "rules". Thus they generally stick to the manifestos that they published when they were up for election; consult with the constituents, experts, committees etc. when making those decsions. Should they abuse their powers and status - the public are in a position to remove them from their privileged position to be replaced by people who are not so dishonest.

They do not have the power to change those underlying rules so that, for example, we can no longer throw them out and vote for someone else!

By signing the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution, THEY HAVE changed those underlying rules - without asking permission from the people for whom they represent. This is totally WRONG

By not letting the UK vote, we have been denied the right to decide for ourselves how we are governed.

If the Irish votes have been "fiddled" (either way), they you too have been denied your say - just like what happened in Iraq with Saddam Hussein and Zimbabwe with Robert Mugabe.

Do you want to lower your country to their standards?

Well said.

I keep on wondering what is happening to persuade all those countries' leaders who were against it initially to suddenly accept it as the way to go for their own countries!

are peoples objections to this treaty in particular and Europe in general

Economic, Social or Political -- or all three?

I think the smell of a "fix up" politically -- hence the un-democratic nature of it all is my biggest problem with it

I would much prefer my own country to remain in existence rather than it becoming a province of the Eu so that they can dictate our lives from then on and our small presence in the Eu Parliament would ensure that our democratic rights would evaporate for all practical purposes despite all they might say about that to try to con us that they still exist!

Can you trust an organisation which cannot get its accounts audited successfully for 14 years? How can they have the brass neck to continue in power after that?

Which is daft because, as most on here will tell you, it was all Gordon Brown's fault
