Just reading the evening paper (Aberdeen Evening Express). Here's a summary.

Guy spends night in a pub (til 1.00 am) then takes his mates van (without permission or Insurance). 2 and half hours later seen slumped over the steering wheel - Ambulance called and tried to pursuade him to get out - he drove off before the police arrived. Police caught up with him and there ensued a 23 mile chase through country roads etc. Tries to force the police off the road and swerving all over the place. Van gets abandoned and guy caught through photographic evidence.

Turns out he's been banned 5 times (he's 26 years old) and WAS banned when committing this offence.

Q. I light of speeding biker (yes very reckless) being locked up for a year what is this guys punishment ?

A. 300 hours community service and a 10 year ban (oh and resit his test!)

And...... Unless the public stand up and be counted as one (massive demonstrations etc) this will go on and on. Why the hell should the House of lords be worried... They have what they want.

yet another shining example of the law, being consistant.

It seems to me that it depends on which day you go to court as to the punishment you get, not the crime....

What the flying f**** are they playing at ????
