Guys,

I've worked out what I think I need, but just to be sure to be sure could someone else also work it out please?
Number per colour


So, its for a splash back.
It will be done using 4inch square tiles
There will be five rows of tiles and the wife has decided on the following 5 by 4 pattern


Black Silver Grey Silver
Grey Black Silver Red
Silver Grey Black Grey
Red Black Silver Black
Black Silver Grey Silver

Length is basically 185inches

Reckon you're right there Shaun - I'd got to 70,80,57,23 - nothing like a bit of mental arithmetic on a bank holiday monday lol

ok you need 46 tiles across = 46*4inch = 184 inches (Half inch border left and right) and you need 5 tiles deep

so 46 *5 = 230 tiles

BUT

Your pattern is 4 wide * 5 deep = 16 * 20 inches

So planning out 46 tiles wide won't work as it means you'll have to repeat the pattern 11.5 times (46 / 4)

Solution:

Have the pattern repeat 11 times with a border of one tile deep on left and right.

EG Border of black

No of tiles reqd

Pattern
Black 6*11 = 66
Silver 7*11 = 77
Grey 5*11 = 55
Red 2* 11 = 22

PLUS
Border left 5 Black
Border right 5 Black

Total:
Black 76
Silver 77
Grey 55
Red 22
Total # tiles 230

Assuming you dont chip any.
