Question Brands Hatch - this weekend (18/19th July)

How bad is the traffic around the circuit etc?

I last went many years ago, so I'm not sure how bad it is nowadays.

I'm hoping the traffic won't be too bad getting in. I've got VIP parking, if that makes a difference.

Also, how early do you have to leave to avoid the worst of the rush to get out etc? I want to stay to the end, but I may not get to decide.

I'm going Saturday and Sunday.

Any other handy tips gratefully received.

Incredible that there are over 100K members and nobody goes to BH. Is the circuit that bad?

I tried googling "Brands Hatch traffic" and this thread was on the first page of results.

Elsewhere I did find out that the traffic is appalling for getting away, just in case anyone was interested.

Here ya go, my opinion.

Traffic for BTCC is not too bad, expect about 20 mins of queuing in the car, the car parks flow well, but getting out is a long thing!
Get there an hour before the first BTCC race to avoid the worst of the traffic, or an hour before the first race of the day to avoid most of the traffic.

Its only a single road from both directions filing into a couple of entrances, but is managed well.

In short, whatever time you decide to arrive, just make sure its 1 hour before you wanna walk through the gates and you will be fine. Allows for car queuing and walking from the car park to the circuit.

A1 is a TOTALLY different matter lol.

Have a great time, I might yet be there myself

Pleasure.

The broken, attention seeker has his users

Where are you travelling from daily?
Allow for a slightly messy M25/A20 junction depending on the weather. Its a bad junction at the best of times, as light controlled at the roundabouts, and does not allow for large traffic flow.

Hmmm thats a toughie.

So M25 and Dartford Crossing ?
Could/should be ok, but do you have alternatives?

Only used the 25 once to get there after meeting friends enroute, which slowed the journey.

Without heading into London somewhere, I can't think of an alternative route other than going the other way around the M25.

Fair play, im sure you will be fine mate, just allow another 15-20 to work your way down the slip road. Not always bad, but better safe than sorry eh.

Whenever I go to a big meet (BTCC or WSB) I ALWAYS park round the back by the paddock entrance.

Follow the lanes back to dartford and you pop out right by the toll booth.

I've driven home in a car from a WSB race and beaten by an hour my mate on a motorbike.

Park up on the side of the road by Fawkham road, you won't be alone. the road is usally lined with cars.

To get away from the circuit turn right into brands hatch road (under the M20). Follow this along. It becomes valley road at some point.

It becomes Fawkham Road again at some point but essentially you are on the same road all the time.

You then come to a mini roundabout where it joins with the B260 (Main Road) TURN LEFT.

Don't turn off this road. It becomes Green Street Road and will lead you across the M25 and onto a roundabout.

Take the 3rd exit (I think but definitely the one marked for M25) and then at the next roundabout turn left onto the M25. You will have beaten most of the traffic and will only have to queue for about a mile at most.
