Default Insurance numptys

In may i had i little bump in my van, infact that word is a little OTT to be honest, the classic island event wear someone in front pulls away and then jams there brakes on as you use your peripheral vision to look both infront and to your right , any way i ended up tapping this idiot at no more than 5mph. The same day i rang my insurance company to tell them of the incident and pre worn them of a possible whip lash claim (as you do) and to note there is no damage to my vehicle but the old van that i tapped was full of dents and worth £300 at most. A month later i recieve 2 letters claiming for whip lash, one driver and one passenger and send them to my insurance. Now, 5 weeks have past so i thought i'd ring my insurance company and ask how things are going, only to be told " we will be paying for whip lash plus we have just agreed 1300 pounds worth of damage to be paid for against the vehicle i hit" . They have not even looked at my van to see what damage it has, there is no damage, they have not checked to see if the passenger was actually in the car, they have not checked to see if the driver was insured ( he didnt own the vehicle). I seem to be a meal ticket for someone but god help us, no wonder we pay so much .

If you are not happy with the way your insurers have dealt with the situation, or feel they haven't "fought" your corner and asked the relevant questions throughout the claims process, there is a insurance ombudsman I'm pretty sure.

Maybe ask in the insurance section, sure Moley or one of the guys from the specialists insurers would give you 5 mins to explain what could be done or asked?

My wife tapped the rear of a car recently.

No damage to wifes car, the driver 'in front' said he thought he had stalled the car - not that he had been hit - the bump was so minor!

Anyway, it now transpires that her Insurance has paid out £800 for damage and are about to pay a Personal Injury claim!!

FFS - something needs to be done - we are all being taken for a ride by these scumbags who see a claim in everything!

Cheers bud, i may give that a try, to be honest after hearing there crap i asked the person on the phone why they had not sent an engineer out to look at the vehicle that had caused so much damage (my van) so they could do the simple maths, no damage = big claim now lets have a think, errrrrrrrr. Any way after suggesting this they are now going to look at my immaculate van
