Default Swine flu reaches work !

First confirmed case was reported on Friday.

As expected the kids are voting with their feet, as they only have three days left. So a nice easy week for yours truly.

Fifty calls an hour from parents worried by "Facebook knowledge" and plague and pestilence raining down on South Leeds.

dunx

P.S. I expect we will have to sanitise our mice & keyboards now....

I'm glad I don't work on airconditioners anymore. The bacteria and viruses these things harbour doesn't make for a pleasent or healthy work environment.

Tsk, watch them all panic !

My mrs has a friend that is just about got over it now, She was in bed for 3 days, felt rubbish for about 5 and it total it lasted about 8.
She said it was in between a cold and a normal flu, No big deal really.

That translates into this if you speak BBC.

Tamiflu works best if flu is treated within 48 hours so go and see the doctor if you can, or don't if you don't want to want to line Donald Rumfeld's pocket.

A relative has got me an app. this afternoon and is picking my Mrs up from work as I really don't feel comfortable driving.

I'm hoping I have a chest infection/cold and not full on flu again. It's f*ckin horrible

I am off work, felt tired and feverish for about 5 days now, no sign of getting better. Been sleeping about 3-4 hours during the day and usual at night. Do you think I have it? The doc wouldn't commit to me having it, but I do work some of the time in a secondary school and with young people generally, so could have caught it there.

@Clarebabes NHS symptom checker. But when my son followed it the advice was "phone for an ambulance immediately" He was OK within a couple of days.

Yeah, I'm not dying, but the fact I've been in contact with lots of teenagers, sometimes in enclosed spaces, makes me nervous! Oh well, back to bed with some 8-12 glasses of clear liquid then

Similar here, amazing what a decent meal and 5-6 hours kip on the sofa does.

Just got back from the docs and I'm on anti biotics for a viral infection thank god. He was very scrupelous with me though, as I have asthma. Apparently vunerable?

Anti-biotics won't do anything for viral infection, will they?

They said on the news the other night that they reckon tens of thousands of people have had it already, and because it isnt much worse than a normal cold, havent gone to the doctors so it hasnt been reported, and they have just got better rather than being dead.

Seems like it is only really dangerous to people who already have some other illness and get it on top.

One thing the media haven't mentioned is how many people die each year from normal flu though ? imagine its quite a lot with elderly people ?

Dunno, got some Amoxicillin. As said he gave me them as I'm asthmatic. I'm not a doctor myself so took his advice and prescription sheet with thanks and daudled out his room
