Default House Insurance - converted steading

We live in a farm steading that was originally built some time around 1900. It was completely modernised (parts completely rebuilt) and converted to a house around 1996.

Doing online quotes it asks when the house was built, if I put 1996 instead of 1900 I get a quote half the price. Don't mind paying the higher premium but only if the lower premium is in fact the wrong premium.

I'll phone the insurer later this morning but wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience.

The older the house then statistically the more will go wrong and the more expensive it'll be to put right.
