England today
Just browsing the news on the BBC website.
In the "More news from around England" section there are 24 items. These are 8 of them:
Family tribute after stab murder
Taped up dead woman identified
Murder charge after man stabbed
Man in court over takeaway death
Girl shot in face with pellet gun
Man arrested over shotgun death
Second arrest over assault death
Man held on suspicion of murder
(These are all seperate incidents)
So one third of the news stories from around England are murder / violent crime A shocking reflection of modern society
Why has nobody got any respect for others anymore? Is there anything that can be done about it, or is too late?

Yes there is something that can be done about it: Stop reading the news.
I'm of the opinion that it's not the country so much as the media that has changed and is gradually turning society into a nation of scared idiots crying out for the government to pass more and more laws and relinquish more and more rights.
Either that or England's just a sh*thole

remember its your right to own a shotgun. go get some now . there might come a time where murder does not warrant the Police. they will be guarding key people and places only...the rest of us will be on our own

not that fast. the ~UK are bringing the troops back just in case of trouble. but i dont see it getting crazy until either food or fuel gets to critical levels. But once the panic starts , people will take the law into their own hands.

no different to any other point in time or any other country. all that's changed is the media - i.e. modern reporting and technology means you now get to hear about more is all. actually sod all going on given the size of the population - the problem with reporting the small amount that is happening is that all the daily mail readers are constantly sh1ting themselves that they might get stabbed popping out for a pint of milk!

When the news is full of good news stories the same cynics and skeptics on Snet are the first to go on about liberalism and jump on the 'why do people emote in public' soapbox.
By the way - darts IS sport

I think that most of what Luke has said in this context is right. This country has sunk into the depths of moral depravity in so many ways largely because of the authorities' policies and it will be very difficult and will take a long time to recover from that. It is frighteningly like seeing the death of a civilisation.
It will take a very strong leader with the good of this country at heart to even start to reverse our decline.

In fact many years ago the daughter of the owner of the house next to mine was raped and murdered just up the road and, many, many years ago another girl was murdered in the old Methodist chapel here. I live in a tiny one street hamlet in the country!

I think there is an arguement to say that as you / I / we head towards being this countrys middle aged generation we become more "news aware" and more aware of our own mortality along with having kids we would die to protect.
Put these 3 things together and the country looks a scary place. In reality it isnt all that bad. As children we were more likely to be kidnapped than our children are yet we freak over letting them play "down the park"...

PS, Darts, like cricket and fishing is a hobby - not a sport... If you dont break a sweat it isn't worth a bet...
