Here you go mate, hope this helps.

Category C - Repairable
This is where an insurers repair costs would exceed a vehicles pre-accident value.

Vehicles can be sold to be repaired and can be used on the road again.

Repairs can be viable by possibly using secondhand parts and/or garages/individuals with lower repair costs.

Vehicles that have been written off since April 2003 will be subject to a Vehicle Identification Check before an new Vehicle Registration Document can be issued by the DVLA. These vehicles will retain their original registration number.

Category D - Repairable
This is when an insurer's repair costs do not exceed the vehicle's pre-accident value, but it is more economic for the insurer to treat the vehicle as a total loss (after taking into account the costs of vehicle salvage, courtesy car etc...)

Vehicles under a year old which have been written off under a "New Vehicle Replacement Scheme" may also fall within this category.

Vehicles can be sold to be repaired and can be used on the road again

Repairs can be viable by possibly using secondhand parts and/or garages/individuals with lower repair costs.

Vehicles will retain their original registration number and will not be subject to a Vehicle Identification Check

Bear in mind though, some insurance companys will take up to 25% off market value if you ever claim for it in a total loss situation.
