President-elect Obama Barack drew great criticism during his campaign for driving a gasoline-thristy Chrysler 300C Hemi V8. Many called Obama a hypocrit for preaching about America’s dependence on foreign oil while driving a vehicle that averages just 15 mpg in the city. Obama addressed the critics buy quickly selling his 3.5 year-old Chrysler and replacing it with a gas-sipping Ford Escape hybrid (resulting in doubling his fuel efficiency to 30mpg/city & 43 mpg/highway).

Somewhere along the line the buyer of the vehicle was able to run the VIN number and determine that the previous owner was the now famous Senator. Given his lucky turn of events this individual has decided to list the used 300C at auction with a staggering opening bid of $100,000. Unsurprisingly the auction has recieved zero bids and we feel it is unlikely that a car would sell for more then 6 times its blue book value based solely on the fact Obama was once the owner.

Visiting the auction is both amusing and concerning with some buyers asking questions such as “is there any hairs remaining in the car”. Do these individuals plan on sequencing Obama’s DNA? Does this pose a threat to national security (can anyone say Obama-clone)? It’s amazing that we have to consider these aspects in this day and age, however, this the reality we live in.
