I spent a couple of days in Belize back in the '70's. We were warned to stay away from the local beer and stick to imported. We heard stories that the two main breweries (I think the other one was called Charger) got their water supply from a river which had untreated raw sewage in it.
We saw kids playing in the river, throwing what looked like turds at each other. So maybe there was some truth in the stories.
The kids were having fun with the turds though.
