Shouldn't they have got PP before getting the deal with Bernie?
No doubt its the "not in my back garden" brigade.
As much as I want a GP at Donnigton, there is no way is that place going to get sorted in 14months, and the road infrastructure to get in there is going to be chaos as well.
Large projects like this just done't happen that quick in the UK; They are always delayed, behind schedule, over-budget and full of problems/oversights upon completion..

And I think that is why Bernie agreed to it, as he knew damn well that it wouldn't happen.
What pisses me off even more is the amount of money that ther BRDC have spent on Silverstones infrustructure over the past few years. The track basically has its own carriage way! And hardly any money came from our government, unlike most of these new tracks around the world.
Bernie needs shooting. It's about time he put some of his own bloody money into the sport.

The man is a self-interested c***, without a doubt. He is banking on people continuing to watch and compete as he drags the sorry spectacle to any jumped up third word dictatorship thatll build a new track, race at night and pay his price.
If the interest wanes, then the poison midget will have to change tack.

Didn't think it would happen, It will be back at silverstone next year. Bernie was in the paper yesterday as well proposing a medal system to replace points. If F1 gets any more mickey mouse they will be spinning a wheel to decide who starts pole ala BTCC.

Maybe I missed the part where the BRDC funded the pit complex they keep talking about. In fact they've shown us at least 4 different plans. And what did they actually do. They built a new pit wall. Oh, and a BRDC club house! Proper old boy network the BRDC.
People knock Bernie. But 4-6 years ago he went to the BRDC and said "I'll buy Silverstone off you and build it how I want it" The BRDC declined. Everyone is aware of how Paul Ricard turned out. And you think that if Bernie owned Silverstone he would not let there be a GP there forever?
Its the BRDC that have lost Silverstone the GP. They keep complaining but they have had a favourable deal (apprentley the best of any circuit worldwide) for years and kept trying to blag it "oh we'll improve next year, next year, next year.
Thing is that the A43 was a main trunk route to the East Coast ports and should have been dualled from the A34 at Oxford along its entire length decades ago and regardless of Silverstone.
Our billions of taxes as motorists should have taken care of this and many other dual carriageways [the A40 from Oxford to Cheltenham for example] and multi-lane motorways but, as always, the government wasted our lolly elsewhere.
As for Ecclestone and Mosley, they have done F1 a huge disservice over the years and I have never understood why the F1 teams didn't tell them to sling their hooks.

Ah, my local Council strikes again. Seems strange that they can approve housing contracts with a certain builder with almost none of the required steps completed yet Donington has to jump through hoops.
Many local people feel that there could be some internal issues in this Council. So if they cross the right palms they could get the go ahead, allegedly.
But even then, there's no chance its ever going to be ready.

Maybe F1 are in for a bit of a reality check. Countries are now starting to turn around and say it's just not worth it - Canada, France (?)... Even China are apparently thinking of canning it. Now that last one, if they do, would certainly rock the boat. It'll end up the UAE F1 Championship...
One thing is for sure....... even if Silverstone is pants.... its still a million times better than Donnington.

Silverstone is an even greater track and is ideal for a GP. It's tradition is every bit as good as Donington's and it is a crying shame that we are going to lose it.
Why the hell should the BRDC sell Silverstone anyway? The facilities are plenty good enough and it is as though the corporate hangers on feel they want more red carpet treatment rather than the suitability of the circuit for an F1 Race. They are there to watch a race, not to expect the "plebs" to bow and scrape to them!

It's very hard to disagree with you. Silverstone is a rubbish circuit with rubbish facilities, true the parking is better than it ever used to be but when you leave they just direct you through MK and move the traffic jam away from the circuit..

as a chartered surveyor with 14 years development experience, i knew when they announced the change to donny from silverstone that it would be unlikely to happen within the proposed timescale.
the secretary of state will call in the application and there has to be a public enquiry. development on this scale takes years of intricate planning (look at what happened with wembley)...and then there's the build contract to sort
i would expect all involved knew this would happen and would have been advised by planning and other professionals that this would be the case
