I'm looking for a new home at the moment and although the distace from my work is not a big concideration, I don't want it to take too long..

At the moment it's 23 miles to work, which is a mix of twisty A/B roads and motorway. Takes me between 30-40 mins, which I don't think is too bad. I used to work 5 miles further way, which took me an extra 30 mins .

50 miles. Northampton to Hemel. Leave at around 6.35am, drive 8 miles, swap car (due to lift sharing), get to work for 8am.

Same going home, get home around 6.30 pm!

Its worth it!

18 miles - 2 miles 30mph onto a mile of dual carriage way then 15 miles of Mway and straight off into work. Not much chance for fun as it's still cold~ish until I get on the MWay

Normally takes me 20 min to do the 18 miles @ 70/80

40 Miles -> Winchester to Theale(Reading), 45 mins, foot down. Traffic rarely a prob.

About to move to Reading so less than 10 miles, will be buying a new WRX at that point as will be able to afford fuel! currently in economical Tegra type R

I assume all of these are in your scoobys? One of the houses we are looking at will mean a 40 mile one way trip to work, but I recon I can still do it in under an hour.

Its amazing how much difference the school holidays make. Where I currently work (just of M6) there are no schools anywhere near, but as soon as the holidays start the m-way exit is clear even in rush hour (9am ish). Normally it's backing up right down the slip road onto the m-way itself.

10 miles, 25 mins to work, 15 mins home.

I find the inverse of the above: A/B roads at 70mph, then motorway 40mph

14 miles, cross country, all B roads - mini Nurburgring route - 5x30mph limits, the rest in GLF's with no straight longer than 100 yards. Best time? about 16 minutes.....

Oh, forgot to mention, that's just to the station - then 50 mins on a skanky train. Stansted Express - yeah, right - Stansted Snail more like......

Total door to door = 1.75 hours.....

Agree about the Stansted Express. In the summer it often pisses running water down from the aircon unit into the middle of each carriage

Ah, but that's if the "aircon" is working - which isn't very often....

It cost them £10 million to refurb 9 x 4 coach units and they are falling apart already - what a rip-off!

22.4 miles to work or 26.2 if i take others to work, which is mostly A road and motorway. and takes between 20 mins on a really good summers weekend day (dont know why i work weekends either) normally 30-35mins in summer, at present 40-55mins and occasionally 75-180mins depending on accidents and breakdowns. worst ever journey time 215 mins cos of snow, and occasionally closed for 24-48hrs = Good day for the pub!
