What with having almost daily disputes with the local to$$er of a traffic warden, I just had to do this:
Beats having the tax disc held in with a bit of gaffa tape and only took 5 mins start to finish!
Admittedly I could have done a better job had I took my time, but it will do for me

Not even in these days of "Respeck"? <huey!>
It does place the word "****" in plain public view.
IMO it'll get ignored unless the owner's a PITA about something or someone complains.

It doesn't have to be in plain public view, but:
within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress - that can be anyone, or anywhere as long as the inside of the vehilce isn't a dwelling.
As I said - only PC Pednatic idiot would consider such a fine for this.
Edit - Im arguing with myself

It's just when you get back to your car and find a ticket on the screen.
They'll be a handwritten note on the bottom saying
"Please note that when I was looking for said potholes I noticed that you were parked 1" over the f,ucking line!"
