PMR 446 - any users?
Thinking of purchasing some PMR 446 radios, for use when on meets, rallies and track days. Is there anyone with any recommendations on usage and best value product. I have checked many sources and come up with a large product range with just as big price variation. May also be looking at multiple buy. Any info on PMR 446 websites, usage, range, etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks (roger, over and out!)

I looked at these a while back, a lot of the southern lot use them at meets, the problem is that the cheap ones (I noticed Tescos were selling a pair for £50 a few weeks back) only operated on the 8 normal channels, when you really want one with subchannels (38 I think)
Maplin seemed to be as good a place as any for them (there is a catalogue in the house somewhere I can hunt out if you want)
If you decide to get some then give us a shout, with the car sold I may as well buy them while I can.

I bought a pair of Cobra PMR300s from http://www.cb-shack.com/.

There seems to be a lot more PMR use at Scooby meets thesedays - just make sure that you know what channel/sub-channel folks are using!

Most of the people I know have the Goodmans GPMR116 (or GPMR117 for the twin pack) radios which you can get from Argos for £80ish I think.
They are good and capable of accessing all the 8 main channels and the 38 subchannels. They include rechargable batteries and a charger.
