Motorcyclist banned for 82mph wheelie (in a 30)
The guy was a d*** for doing that tbh but its amazing the lengths the police will go to to catch him, yet if your house got done over.....
Not an anti-police rant but their priorities stink sometimes.

A wheelie is not that dangerous really and I think that they go a bit ott about them at times, especially if it just a short lived one.
There really is no excuse for those repeated speeding offences in 30 mph zones however, those kinds of speeds are grossly unfair to others and he was lucky to get off as lightly as he did.

Notorious accident black spot, where speed limit is clearly marked on a big yellow board?
He asked for it
with his repetitive idiocy of driving too fast within restricted zones. It could have been his ulterior motive to be on the national news LOL
He needs to be kept an eye on, even after 18 months IMO.
Serves him right, as Stevebt says.

An idiot full stop for doing that in a 30 and i'm not trying to defend him one bit but that road is a duel carriageway.

Or in this guys case you act like a **** on one. What he did wrong was to keep doing it thinking he was cool. As it was a blatant p1sstake of the law, the law were going to do all they could to find him as nobody likes to be made a fool of by a smart4rse.

Yes he was an idiot to do what he did - but does clearly show the main police prioity is speeding. No comments if his speed was dangerous at the times of the offences - 30 mph on a dual carriage way - bet thats a road that has recently had its limit reduced.

You're probably right, but he'd get less grief if up in front of the beak for burglary with another 20 offences taken into consideration. Unlike the burglar he probably has a job, a bank account with some money in it, a mortgage etc that makes him an easy touch....wonder how much his fine was? Nice little earner I expect.

And what about the scooter on L-plates doing 50-something in a 30 and covering his numberplate with his feet. One month in jail for perverting the course of justice. Do me a favour, if the plod were this zealous in trying to catch people committing real crimes we wouldn't be slagging them off all the time.

it was or is a dual carrageway, the main route out of southampton down to the A/M27
they also sit with a scamera van further up the road, at the bottom of a hill, which has a scamera half way down!!!!
and there not out to make money?

Ok the guy was stupid and irresponsible. But wouldn't it be great if the police put just a bit of that effort into non motoring crimes ???
Crazy ieda but what if instead of setting up roadside speedtraps they spent the same time and man power setting up burgular / drug dealer traps in known areas. Same cost same man power but hold on .......... they'd just catch criminals and not raise more money for the goverment........ durr how could I be so stupid

That road has been a 30 as long as I can remember, it is for noise reasons apparently. The two fixed cameras were put in there in 2003, and before that it had mobile cameras nearly all the time. Sometimes it has a mobile camera even now, pointing down the hill.
Incidentally, in 2005 a pedestrian was killed crossing that road (hit by a Land Rover doing less than 30 IIRC). I wonder if the driver had his eye on the speedo...

all that speed and not a one crash! how strange!
im pretty sure that stretch of road used to be a 70. which would explain his excessive speed.

Nice bit of detective work in finding the jacket guaranteed conviction once they got the name - nice easy pull
- feet up on the desk, donnuts allround ,pat on the back from the super

It is true however that the front brake is pretty ineffective while the front wheel is off the ground! It is also easy enough to pull a wheelie while cornering, the bike will continue around the corner in the banked attitude.

.... however it does take a lot more skill to ride on one wheel
