Yet another TV question
Probably a daft question but oh wise scoobynet give me some advice
I know LCDs & plasmas can give of a bit heat, but how does heat from other objects affect them.
My folks are looking at getting a new TV. A flat screen in the corner of the living room where the current TV is situated would look a bit daft so they would ideally like the new one wall mounted.
Problem is the only wall where it could be mounted is the chimney breast, with a actively used coal fire at the bottom.
would this be a no no ?

if they have a fireplace then I am sure there is some kind of coating that will absord/deflect the heat. Obviousky there is still going to be heat going up the chimney but I suppose it depends on how thick the walls are. I used to have a 42" plasma over a gas fire on the chimney and that was fine. It was only used for about 4 months like that though as we moved house so I dont know if it would have been okay longer term.

Just put it in the corner, our Panny plasma sits in the corner on a nice and low Alphason stand and it looks spot on.
I didn't fancy having to stare up into space to watch telly so this was our only option.

The walls are pretty thick i didnt think that would affect it
It was heat rising up i was concerned about
There is mantle at the top but not very big, think it will be worth getting a bigger one.
