Question RC Nitro guys - need to pick your brains.....

As luck would have it, I've been GIVEN(!) a Nitro car

Pretty sure it's a HPI RS4 Evo, but without any instructions or box etc, I'm not 100%....

Now the question is this - I'm pretty sure I need a few bits (as ALL I got was the car)

The bits I can ascertain are -

It's a pull-start car.
The Receiver is a HPI RX1 27 MHz, with an orange xtal (27.095Mhz)
The servos are SX1s....

I've raced (amateur!) electric cars, but know nothing about nitro.

I'm guessing I'l need the following -

1. A new transmitter (always a good excuse
2. An orange xtal for the transmitter
3. A glowstart
4. Nitro fuel
5. Air filter oil (best give it a clean out)
6. Batteries (!)

Have I got all things covered? Dan

I got given one a while ago and have yet to get the annoying thing to start! I bought a new glow plug and charger (that was better) but it just starts for a second and just stalls.

FWIW, have you cleaned out the air filter, and put new oil in it?
I did get told that it can be down to dodgy pipes etc....

I know mine works, as it's come from a very reliable person (loves his RC stuff) - just gave me nothing with it!!

Found this link (from Scoobynet's earlier days!) -

Might help you out a bit

It could be running to lean, adjust the screw for the fuel

LOL!
Do you think I'd have posted if I hadn't have thought of that!? Then again, most of the Scoobynet massive post without thinking, so I'll give you that one!!

Yes, I had, but the guy's abroad on holiday, and by the time I'd got round to looking at the car in earnest, he'd already gone.

Thanks for the replies though guys
Off down the model shop at lunch time tomorrow then

Any recommendations for a transmitter - I was going to go for a cheapo Techniplus 2 for about £15. Can't see any other reason for going for anything more potent tbh.... unless you can convince me!!!

It may well run on standard glow plug fuel, but not so much power. Its a long time since I used it but I think that nitro fuel is mindbendingly expensive now.

I presume you have got a battery and clip to connect it to the glow plug for starting.

Ahhh, I see!

I was having a few cans last night, didn`t mean to have a pop

Hope you get it sorted, I`m a 1/10th electric guy so couldn`t point you in the right direction.

OP, you should have everything you need when youve bought your list.

Try turning the needle valve clockwise untill it locks up, then 3 turns anti clockwise. You should now have the correct mix to start with. Once its started and warmed up you can then lean the mixture out but make sure blue smoke is visible at all times
