New iphone
I've needed a new phone for ages, thinking about the new iphone. Anybody got one and if so can they comment on how well it actually works as a PHONE? ie reception, battery life, durability?
Thanks

Hello
I bought an iPhone for my wife, and for a PHONE I would say:
The battery life is okay (although it needs to be charged everyday as opposed to my Blackberry which I can leave for a couple of days).
It is a bit uncomfortable to hold, but the Bluetooth works so not a problem if you have a headset.
Sending an SMS is great.
Reception is no worse than other phones.
It gets finger marks within an instant (even if you don't touch it it appears) but has a good well made feel and the glass is extremely resiliant (according to some tests on the Internet I saw).
It doesn't have MMS (I've never sent one in my life anyway ...)
The Camera is average at best (mentioned because that seems to be part of every phone these days).

Got mine yesterday so a bit early to tell.
The reception seems low, though having said that it hasn't stopped me making a call, I will report more after the weekend when I have tried to use it at home and around and about.

Yes this is the new 3G iPhone.
From what I can see, the problem with the battery life is that you just WANT to play with it to check emails or quickly have a look at something on the internet. It is so convenient rather than powering up your computer. All of that reduces the battery time.

Having had the 3g phone for a week now I'd say...
Camera is crap, but then so is the one on my K750i which is supposed to be the cream of the cameraphone crop.
Phone reception is a little muffled compared to my last 3 phones - all Sony Ericsson
Battery life - goes down quite a bit, I've had to charge mine every day but I'm putting it down to the novelty factor as you can't go 5 mins without having a fiddle - the screen & wi-fi go with the juice.
Email / SMS is great using the touch screen.

I disagree that it is a rubbish phone. It is an OKAY phone, nothing exceptional. But everything combined and with an unlimited data plan it is a brilliant piece of kit.
