Default Plasma tv cable routing

Whats the best/ your way of routing cables up the wall

discretley?

i have a chimney, that is lined with a metal sleeved flue.

I was thinking of drilling through the wall to get the cables up to the tv,
buit obviously that means there is an open flue. (not what i want really)
the other option is trunking in the wall, but i dont know how much depth i have due to the aforementioned flue

any ideas?

oh and it needs to be achievable within a normal day ( need to get tv mounted and cabled before she comes back from work )

i would either chase a route or batten with say 1x2" and screw 18mm mdf over the top - as long as you get your battens in the right place (and you fix right through them for the tv bracket), that should do the job

(and yes, i know my centre speaker is too high )

yes, it's a temp fix - the cables were all bunched up at the rear so it couldn't be pushed back properly at the time the pic was taken

I was going to drop the cables into the floor void and knock half a brick out, then drill w 50mm hole behind the screen and fish the cables up the back, As it turned out I put a shelf under the screen and the gap is so small I don't see the cables anyway, well not enough to make ma spend 4 hours sorting it out!
Nice job Richardg, mine is on a bracket so it can swing off the wall and see it from further down the room and it folds back flush if I'm not using it.

That looks good, but the TV isn't in the center? That would drive me insane!

personally, i would leave the chimney as is. you can still fix a swing arm bracket through frame work and into the brickwork behind....hilti (and loads of other fixing companies) sell a resin made for fixing eye rings for scaffold into brickwork. if you resin anchor the expanding part of the bolt (which is good enough for scaffold to be safe on), then it should be more than good enough for the tv bracket.....and should be much quicker than removing bricks and burning out core drills to get into a flue

lol, i was contemplating doing just that and waiting to see what her reaction was & just putting it up when she went off to work,

but trying to co-ordinate 3 deliverys, ( tv, units & mount) and assemble & mount the whole lot with a 5 year old running around, was going to be a bit of a non starter.

I mentioned getting one, and she said ok, I showed her

Groove's new lounge with floating wall build - AVForums

the only question she asked was " is it the 50" model",

hadnt thought of 50" but theres a thought
