Default Where's this global warming???

Its July and the weather is crap, perhaps the eco-tossers could tell me when I could expect some of this global warming?

I was hoping to go RIAT but it looks like its going to rain both days

On top of that I just got my new road tax disc at a cost of £400 because of global warming, perhaps they need to take a look outside

Why is it one bad day is seen as proof positive that global warming does not exist, but a steaming hot day in Novemeber is not proof of the opposite?

Is that because it's occupied by people who spout one-line 'pants' without backing it up with anything solid and merely relying on it being opposite to the original point?

Could be. Or, it could be that our brains operate on a different level, and the heat generated by having to explain fairly basic concepts over and over again to, say, ex pats, is considerable.

The real worry would be if the climate wasn't changing.

That really would be unusual, the climate has always varied after all.

What makes me laugh is that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, take this excerpt from Dent Devils web site for example:

"Due to global warming, vehicles are increasingly damaged by severe hail storms. "

Taken from the page Dent Devils - Dent Removal

LOL - it's a catch all... Funny day of weather? That's because of your "carbon footprint"

Snow? In April? Can't call that Global Waming - Damn - errr any ideas? Why yes, "Climate Change"...

As soon as that trademark catchy name was introduced the whole (already ludicrous) myth was completely blown out of the water

Still, if a ever a lentil muncher needed a pseudo religion to cling onto, the buzz-words and a westminster bullsh1t train are still chugging around somewhere

Don't forget the reason that we now have climate change instead of Global Warming is because despite all the massive panic headlines the Earth has not heated up even 1/10th of a degree in the last seven years.

It really upsets the Greens when you point that out.

There is certainly climate change but I think it is cyclical and not down to extra CO2.

The Earth's temperature has not increased for the last ten years.

Thanks, Pete. To what was that relevant? From that very article;

But this year's temperatures would still be way above the average - and we would soon exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.

Indeed, I wa smainly pointing to this bit:

I'm not anti GW person. I'm undecided. I do think that there has been a stifling of debate that has roused suspicion, and unfortuantly lead to an unbalanced debate, where yo uhave one side saying "theres nothign to debate" and the other saying" its all about money".

And somewhere, the truth of the matter gets lost.

The climate has changed significantly in the last 100 years, I beleive that much. As to why, and how much it will continue to do so I am unsure

Back and forwards with lies, damn lies and global temperature statistics...

While Nasa, the US space agency, cites 2005 as the warmest year, the UK's Hadley Centre lists it as second to 1998.

Jolly nice of you to order me to refer you to that article. You could have looked it up for yourself of course.

Pete Brant has kindly done the job for me, thanks for that Pete.

You seem to be very biased as far as your reaction goes, but that is your right of course old chap. I certainly am not disposed to having yet another long pointless argument with you anyway.

Since Pete's article says nothing of the sort, would you like to provide reference to the one you're citing from? No, thought not. Meaningless headlines.

Here you are Telboy, the global temperature is now at exactly the same level as it was in 1979. Amazing heh?

The point i'm making, Mr Paul, is that we could be here till next century trading "proof" of this, that and the other. The headline is a meaningless, given that there are myriad examples which prove to the contrary. The sooner people start focusing on the underlying shift in weather patterns, rather than spurious, conveniently chosen data, the better. If the shift of the last 50 years has been down to purely natural phenomena, i'm Father Christmas.

Sorry, I was just providing the proof that you asked for above, in fact not only that temperature has fallen during the last 10 years, but that it is exactly what it was 30 years ago. As I understand it, these are the facts of global temperature, as it is currently measured.

You can read into that what you will, what I read into it is, despite the massive increase, in fact unprecedented increase in CO2 emmissions in the last 30 years, the temperature last year, was the same as 1979.
