Hey All

Hoping u can help me...I have bought a Samsung LE40N87BDX/XEC LCD and have it connected to digi and cinema through scart.... however I can not get the picture correct.. it looks of low definition, slightly pixelated and low pic quality. To be honest my old CRT looked better

Anything you can recommend to get the pic right????
what the settings should be etc etc

Also when tuning pic settings which should you do first?

My Samsung was picture perfect right out of the box, HDMI from Xbox360/Cinema, scart from Sky.

I just let it tune itself which it did and haven't felt a need to change anything.

What type of equipment is providing the source? I had a Samsung H.C. which provided an upscaling facility, that didn't have any probs when plugged into the tv. The Xbox 360 HD-DVD also upscales standard DVDs and works well both on my Samsung and Panasonic.

You should have various settings where you can modify the tv backlighting etc. Also check what the mode is set to. I leave my Samsung to automatically change to game mode if the 360 turns on, but you can change it if you're watching films through it etc.

Have you got the manual? That had tips in on how to get the best results.

 

I am running it through a Samsung home cinema and digi box (both connected through scart)

The contrast was set at 100% when I tried to fine tune the pic but I just can not get this right......

 

My Samsung is currently running these settings (via coax taking it's feed from a Sky box in a seperate room).

Mode: Dynamic
Contrast: 100
Brightness: 45
Sharpness: 75
Colour: 55
Digital NR: Auto
Active colour: On
DNIe: on

 

have u changed the setting in the menu mate? when i bought my hd tv to accompany my xbox, i was blown away by the resolution and graphics, til my mate come round and called me a liar sayin it was hd....then i noticed i hadnt turned HD on on the tv settings (duh) also hadnt changed the resolution on my xbox either. maybe theres some setting with ur cinema thing and the tv that u have to tweak?

Is it connected via HDMI we changed from scart to HDMI and the difference was quite noticable, once we set the BT box to the correct setting

 

Almost certainly there lies the problem , You need to connect via a HDMI cable, also do a search on Samsung LE40N87BDX/XEC LCD settings on AVForums Home

 

I understand that the colour reproduction on an LCD is never as good as a plasma and very probably a CRT too. Also the response time is always a bit slower even though they are getting faster now, which means the likelihood of blurring on a moving picture. The quality will also depend on the type of scan whether progressive which is best or interlaced which is not as good.
