Different for everyone i think. If you have stopped it completely I should have thought it would not be very long but if you keep topping it up you may never be completely free of it. There must be an expert around, like John Banks perhap's.

A rough rule of thumb,

allow 4 hours to disperse one unit of alcohol

that said each individual is different, different absorbtion & tolerance rates.

the 4 hours used to be a guide to the average person.

that said, i had a friend who went out for a drinking session one evening. got an early morning stand- by call from the bib. (6am)

Arrived to assist, and was done for DD (he was still over the limit from the night before)

Funny one this; I know someone who is bit of a heavy drinker keeps saying I've stopped drinking, not drunk a drop for 2 weeks.

I say wow (sarcastically), and then say try and do it for 6months. He never manages it.

It is about 1 hour per unit (not 4 as above) if your liver is healthly. If you continually drink it may take longer.

It is usually quoted as about 1 unit per hour (rather than with a half life decay like most metabolism because the enzymes are saturated).

Alcohol dehyrogenase (the enzymes that break down alcohol) activity depends on body mass, genetics, health, tolerance, medication. So there is a wide variance between individuals.

If I drink at J4ckos mate's pace, it can take me up to a year to recover, I find the learning to talk again inconvenient, the thing is, he can be a bit sneaky, sometimes he gets himself a shandy and me a Stella !

Not usually actual Shandy (though it has been known) but usually dropping down to cooking lager when I am on Stella.

When you see him, you don't think Shandy Drinker it has to be said, though there is one kind of Shandy he likes, I think its by a company called "Hand" or something ?

I see the 1 hour thing has been mentioned which is correct. But that only starts 20 mins after your last drink. Basically meaning it takes the body 20 mins to begin the process of dealing with the alcohol.

These figures are also based on the average body, so in some cases it may take less or more time.

Cannabis can stay in your system for up to 6 weeks for regular users. Cocaine, amphetamines, opiates and methylenedioxymethamphetamine derivatives take around 3 days to flush out. Benzodiazepines can take around 10 days.
