Default Tomtom update ..

I bought a Tomtom 720 about a month ago, and I thought I was entitled to 1 years free updates.

I got an Email yesterday informing a new updated Western Europe map is available , when I went to update today, you go through their shop process and the cost is £59.95 , I feel like sending it back, as I now have the old maps on a device that is only 1 month old.

Anyone else know anymore about this, am I enttiled to a free update, or should I contact Tomtom's non-existent customer services ?

not sure on this one. Best get in touch. There are all sorts of updates when it comes to software. "New versions" normally cost money, while "updates" are normally included with a subscription.

Sucks really, I used to use a piece of software that had "free updates", but "paid for new versions". Anything you ever wanted was in a new version....*sigh*

The updates usually cover just the software, the maps are treated like a seperate consumable. This is why I get my maps from 'elsewhere' ..

Search your favourite Torrent site although they can be a pain to install. I have a Garmin Nuvi and the maps (even a day after purchase of the receiver) are purchasable.
