Default offshore work (oil rigs/platforms)

hi all im thinking about a career change just getting bored at the minute in the job im in just wondered if there is anyone on here who works offshore .
ive looked into doing the bosiet ticket think its about £600 the one with the helicopter tank thingy after that is there any thing else i need and what sort of job can i go for i have an engineering background with welding and metal work also with marine engineering .



ive heard that come september they are changing the on/off shifts and will be creating a fair few jobs worldwide is this true ?

Phil save up 2k you might get them cheaper,you can get all the survival training courses for around £1700 and you will be on a rig asap top money,even better if you have a trade!

what other courses do i need then and i will probably do them together as i really wanting a change and how do i go about getting a job offshore is it a case of sending of cv's to oil companies or oil agencies

My mate sent of about 300 CVs to difrent companies , got 1 nibble with no job, spent about 2.5 grand getting cards ect

seems to be a who you know game, if you ask me
