Since last night I've been trying to figure out why I would want a barcode reader on my phone but, having played around with it a bit this morning I've now decided it's the coolest thing on the planet
There's a site here where you can generate your own barcodes QR-Code Generator
And here's one I made earlier for you lot who are as sad as me

Looking at the price of stuff for sale? Most things in supermarkets etc won't have a price on them and the ticket on the shelf might be missing. I'm just guessing as I've got a battered and old Nokia and haven't the latest 'must have' upgrade

I'm using mine on my N95 8GB and it works fine

I'm a bit disappointed that no-one has deciphered my special message above yet though. I knew it was a waste of time embedding those naked shots in that barcode
So what's the actual use for it then. Creating cryptic messages that only those with bar-code reading phones can read? Or for booking in on flights. Sounds thrilling, lol.
Sounds kinda cool but pointless

I couldn't read Scoobychicks barcode as my monitor was too bright and the bar code reader couldn't focus properly but I created one for myself and it worked ok.

It is just a funky gimmick at the moment as far as I can see although the info I've read says it can be used to embed things like website URLs and stuff. Apparently it's used in some magazines but I've not seen it yet.
Anyway, for those of you that think it's fun, here's another message:

One cool use would be to initiate one-click ordering online. You (discreetly) scan an item in a shop, or something you already have at home, and up pops a list of suppliers, ordered by price. The phone has your credit card details stored in its digital wallet, and hey presto, it turns up the next day courtesy of DHL.

There's a barcode system on some food packaging now which can be scanned by a Smart Scan oven to programme itself to cook the item perfectly
The Nokia barcode reader can't use it though, I tried it
It's probably for the best otherwise I could've ended up cooking my garlic bread with my phone which would've been a bit messy

Here's another one I made: http://qrcode.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&...t%21%20%3Bo%29
Come on, someone on here must be able to do this, I feel like the geeky kid at school that no-one wants to play with
