For all the 'Who is The Stig' ponderers.....
For those who really want to know, a while spent on Google would reveal the answer too, after one of their recent programmes. I did try, but I lost interest after a couple of minutes.
And here YouTube - Top Gear: Skater
and here YouTube - Top Gear: Parachute
he's actually been on the program "unmasked" quite a bit

It's not many drivers
There are others brought in for crazy stuff (like the Renault F1 car, Skidoo etc), but more or less all of the road cars are driven by the bloke I've posted earlier. (listen to the clips, it's not hard to work out
)
RRH - Do you think a manufacturer's driver would be quicker around such an unusal track? No - hence why the Stig is let lose

Err, the lines taken depends upon the car and how it handles mate, nowt to do with the driver!!
Not so. You can tell the difference in the way the cars are driven and the lines he takes. One Stig is smoother and more controlled while another will literally throw the car around the track.

these are handling charactaristics!
In the UK it goes like this...
First it was Perry, then it was Ben, then Ben was busy for a bit so it was Perry again, then it was back to Ben (and has been for some time) and then this year they had one new guy in for one UK show, I wont say his name as I have not seen it in any public press yet.. but he has been a racing driver for 20 years and has won his chapionship once..

Err not really, anyone who has been around racing knows who Perry McCarthy is - he has done all of the major single seat championships incl FF, F3, F3000 and is a quick guy. Ben Collins is a younger guy and has also raced all over the world - he started out at the bottom like Perry and worked his way up and has competed in most of the well known championships. From what I understand he is very close to getting a seat in a NASCAR team and if he gets this then TG will need a new stig..
The new driver I am talking about that they used was for the Silverstone race, and no he is not an F1 driver.

The test driver, The Stig, never speaks a word and his face has never been seen (it being always hidden behind a tinted visor).
For the first two seasons, The Stig was Perry McCarthy, a former Formula One driver as well as a test driver for three F1 teams. A new Stig took over from McCarthy after the original Stig's "demise" at the beginning of Season 3. On the 18 March 2006 the former Stig, Perry McCarthy, revealed that currently there is no one single test driver, but multiple test drivers who masquerade as the Stig; he said this when he appeared at a Palmer Sport activity day in Bedfordshire, UK. Rumours have it that one of the new Stigs is Damon Hill and occasionally Colin McRae. And in January 2006, the Daily Express claimed that the identity of The Stig is former Formula 1 driver Julian Bailey.
