Question Spaghetti the AV type

How do you people manage your AV spaghetti

I bought one of those cable tidy things today, but to be honest, its not much use. Ive so many patch leads and cables, ive had to resort to looping the cables and wrapping them with insulating tape.

(waits for the attack of the audiophiles )

Start here.

Then draw a diagram of what connects to what else.

(Or draw the diagram first)

I cable tied all mine neatly together from the tv etc which I then coiled and cable tied the remainder, luckily I have a gap beneath the stand where I stuffed the coiled cables. I wouldn't use insulating tape as it tends to go all gooey after a while.

It's like living in the Electrical department of John Lewis at our house!

I routed and chased everything into the walls and behind the skirting. What remains is at the bad/bottom of the AV cabinet where you can't see it

Mart - I don't! But I do know what connects to where and what I need to disconnect at both ends when I want to change things.

(Never said it was easy pulling the cables through the existing rats' nest without causing other problems, though....)

I shove it all behind the tele, there are cables from the TV, sky, xbox, 1 x home cinema system, 1 DVD player, 1 PS2 and a few other things...you can imagine the friggin mess. No need to tidy, I just send in one of the small children when ever I need anything pluggin...kids are less susceptible to electrical shocks I hear

Well since getting the new AMP (HDMI Onkyo TSX R605) I've managed to ditch a load of cables and it does look better, but still a complete mess back there.

Job for New Year is to cable tie everything up against the wall and wall mount the surge protector...
