But Sky customer services are in Scotland - I was at a meeting there earlier in the week.

Does that count as offshore while they're still part of the UK?

If they transfer calls to India, thats offshoring, and thats what they appear to have done... sales are in birmingham??

Selectively is key here too.

I've had both scenarios when trying to get sky broadband.
First person says that the broadband setup is not available in your area, you need to go for the connect package whichh is £17 per month.
This person is Indian, and doesn't have a very good grasp of the Engligh language and the phone call was at about 7.30 pm.

But I know it is available, I try to reason but to no avail.

I try again the following day. This call is mid day.
I speak a a very firendly Scottish guy. He can't understand why I was told all the nonsense the previous night.
I had sky broadband up and running about 5 or 6 days after that.

Indian call centres are a real pain in the ****.

I remember when working in ICL that we off loaded lots of development work to India, we usually had a video call once a week to check progress which was a real hoot.
Poor standard of work was returned to us back then(10 years ago), it may be better now though. Don't work for them anymore.

Mart, may i suggest you call sky up and say that you wish to cancel as you are going to go with the BT on demand service, you work odd hours and it will suit you, it is FREE, etc, etc.

I do believe thst sky will offer you sky+ for FREE, they did for me and several other people i know under similar circumstances.

Yeah I got my Sky+ for free after telling them I wished to cancel, seeing as I was going to be working shifts from now on.

I'm only on the basic package, no sports/movies
