Default Is it worth claiming?

Nicked my rear alloy on a petrol pump stand. Gutted. Taken a small chunk out of the wheel and nicked the tyre so need to replace.

My excess is £50 but not sure whether to claim as tyre may have wear and tear applied, and resultant increase in premium may not justify. Car has done 5k miles.

Will definitely have it repaired, just wondered whether to claim or pay for it myself.

Normally only about £50 per wheel for a refurb anyway so less hassle to go privately

Dave

I've got a chunk missing. Would the insurance company just refurb the wheel?

Suppose it depends how big the chunk is to be honest.

Very small chunk, but would rather have a new wheel. May as well stump up myself.

Hmm, a small chunk I can see being repaired tbh.... Sounds expensive. for the price Id just repair it yourself and see what you think before deciding on a new wheel all together.

Not worth a claim imo.
Get a new tyre on it and call in Wickedwheels to refurb the wheel.

Get the tyre delivered to you by someone like blackcircles, then when wickedwheels come to sort the wheel out, they can fit the new tyre when the wheel is done. Save a few quid.

Can vouch for Wickedwheels. They recently repaired a Jeep wheel for my bro in-law which was badly damaged, most people would have probably thrown it away. It came back as good as new

Even if the excess was less than sorting it yourself, you'd then have a claim on file and your next premium would easily wipe out any savings made.
