The Saudi Royal Visit. Gets up my nose a bit. Entourage of 100's, five planes, 2 years preparation and best china at the palace. And all for a guy who happens to live in a country - by chance - with oil reserves that belong to the people of that country but who are generally treated liked s**t. Oh and we have to bribe his family to buy our planes
I suppose we have to do it but it does grate somewhat.
What do you reckon?

Grumpy of Surrey agrees. However, given that the Saudi Royal family is the only thing standing between us feeding at the trough and their country falling into anarchy, then I say we should be sucking up as much as we can. Otherwise, we're stuffed. Sticks in your throat though...
There is no doubt that if it was the King of Amazulu there would have been little hoohahh.
BUT, it is the King of Saudi Arabia ..... very, very important strategic country in the UK Foreign Policy - so, he gets the flowers and chocolates.

It pays to engage in diplomacy, dialogue and trade rather than shouting the odds from your soapbox.
