Thumbs down All a bit obscene?

The Saudi Royal Visit. Gets up my nose a bit. Entourage of 100's, five planes, 2 years preparation and best china at the palace. And all for a guy who happens to live in a country - by chance - with oil reserves that belong to the people of that country but who are generally treated liked s**t. Oh and we have to bribe his family to buy our planes

I suppose we have to do it but it does grate somewhat.

What do you reckon?

Grumpy of Surrey agrees. However, given that the Saudi Royal family is the only thing standing between us feeding at the trough and their country falling into anarchy, then I say we should be sucking up as much as we can. Otherwise, we're stuffed. Sticks in your throat though...

There is no doubt that if it was the King of Amazulu there would have been little hoohahh.

BUT, it is the King of Saudi Arabia ..... very, very important strategic country in the UK Foreign Policy - so, he gets the flowers and chocolates.

Just business aint it. Happens every day in this country but to a lesser degree. Doubt a curry and a few beers followed by a trip to the lappies would have done the job

I wonder if anyone brought up that bit of research which showed that the majority of suicide bombers in Iraq/Afghanistan were Saudi citizens?

Well, we could tell 'im to get stuffed and end up paying £3.00 a litre for petrol that someone's allowed their camel to p*ss in.

It pays to engage in diplomacy, dialogue and trade rather than shouting the odds from your soapbox.

Well since he's placed orders for loads of UK built military hardware, it might be a bit tricky to invade and steal the oil like we've done in Iraq.
