I stayed in the Hilton Whistler Village last year - excellent - had a deluxe studio for a family of 4.
Fantastic location - right at the bottom of the lifts.
We stayed at the Marriot PInacle in Vancouver which was fine - we were only there 1 night as a stopover. We did a week in Whistler then a week in Hawaii and I didn't fancy 2 back to back overnighters on the way home, so did a 24 hour stopover in Vancouver.

Going to Whistler for Xmas. Staying at Crystal Lodge(which has a good reputation) and am having Xmas meal at Fairmont Chateau Whistler which is the expensive one!
Google "Whistler accomodation" if you want lots of details with maps etc.

For Victoria I've booked into the Chateau Victoria, and for Vancouver into the Pan Pacific for a night (because it's next door to the cruise terminal) and into Rosedale on Robson for 3 nights - not stayed at any of them before, but they come recommended by someone who has.

Like the look of Crystal Lodge and have e-mailed for price and avability of their loft rooms. The Hilton Whistler also looks good and we like the look of Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre so i think its between these 3.
Been looking at Le Soleil Hotel and Suites in Vancouver as anyone stayed here, it gets good reviews on Trip Advisor

Fairmont Chateau Whistler is actually at the base of Blackcomb mountain - only a few minutes walk away from Whistler mountain, but I'd rather be in Whistler village & would feel a little conned if I booked the Fairmont....

When at Victoria, two things..........
The whale watching trips are expensive and they are not allowed to approach the whales, so beware, it can be a long dull, cold trip.
Secondly, if you go to East Sooke, do not leave anything in your car. Not even in the boot. Thieves operate in the area and we had stuff in the boot, they put a screwdriver through the lock and nicked it all. Very distressing.
Well worth a trip though, very beautiful walk along the coast with giant redwoods.
I really liked Victoria, had a nice feel.
Whisltler was nice, though not that much to do except walk up and down mountains as it's essentially a ski resort.
Vancouver was a great place. If you get chance, go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. If you arent' bothered by heights, it's just a nice place to go. If you are, it's a test of nerve!
Are you carrying on into the Rockies or just going as far as Whistler? (or Vancouver depending on your start point)
Geezer
