Recommend me a first time abroad holiday!
As far back as I can always remember having a fear of flying. I've done it now (MCR to GLASGOW) and it really wasnt that bad.
Wifey has been all over the world (well in my book) I'm 24 and she's 23 so nothing to fuddy duddy. Want something a bit lively (if that makes sense?)
REQUIREMENTS:
Budget of £3k ish for a week.
Some English talking people - even tourists.
And decentish food.

Depends what you want from the holiday. Lively you say? Like a clubbing destination Ibiza, Falaraki or Zante etc? (definately dont need £3k for that) Or somewhere upmarket?

You can fly from Manchester to London though and it fits your other "requirements"
Why not build a holiday on what you want do rather than to an exact budget.
Otherwise you might think "damn, this £3k holiday just isn't quite as good as a £4k holiday"
Sounds like Barbados is for you - many tourists, able to spend if you want to, decentish food (although some is foreign - be wary of it; can be very dangerous) and plenty of money'd up Brummies around shouting about their latest property investment.

A mate of mine has a few apartments in Tenerife, says its a top place. So, thats one option I suppose... Even if I went for a few days just to make sure I don't go mad or anything.

Good thing about Benalmadena it only 20-30 minutes from Malaga.
2.5 hours flight, Taxi from Malaga 20 Euros, straight to hotel - lovely.
The Peurto Marina at Benalmadena is something else.
Plenty of nice restaurants and bars.
Typical meal for 2 with drinks - 50 Euros

If you go to Tenerife, even with a £3k budget as your first holiday abroad you will never want to leave the UK ever again. So much so that you will be forgiven for thinking Hartlepool is a nice place

Madeira, nice place, nice people, good weather, plenty of English speakers and locals are very nice people. We went over new years a few years back and had a great time. At the time it was £700, all inclusive for 2 weeks.
Hire a car - you will need it.
